Meals on Wheels Placemats
Thank you to all who have made placemats for Meals on Wheels. They are beautiful. We have collected 79 to date. For those of you who may not be familiar with this program, we are making placemats to be given to Meals on Wheels at the beginning of December, 2023. This will allow the organization to prepare the placemats for distribution at Christmas. They have asked that the placemats not suggest religion or politics. The placemats should be made to standard placemat size (suggested 12×18 or 14×20), no mug rugs or napkins, please. If you have any questions please see Michele Schneider

Community Quilt Challenge 2023
Our Community Quilt challenge was quite productive, resulting in increasing the number of quilts for donations to 62! That’s an impressive start to the year; many thanks to all of you who help with our charitable donations! Let’s keep up the good work.
2022-2023 This year’s Panel Challenge is due for turn-in at our April 17th regular meeting. Every quilt should be finished, ready for distribution. That means the top is finished, it has been quilted, bound, and a guild label attached to the back…ready for distribution. Kathy Hofmeister has volunteered to quilt these entries, so please contact her directly if you need to utilize her long-arm services.
All Panel Challenge entries will be displayed and voted upon during our June meeting. The top three vote getters will receive prizes for their efforts. Then, completed entries will be passed to our charitable organizations for distribution to needy communities.
ECHOS May 2023
Thanks Nancy it was great presentation.
Quilt Stencils Do you have trouble coming up with ideas for quilting designs? Would you like to try a more advanced-looking motif, but don’t think you can pull it off? Quilt stencils might be the answer. They are easy to use, can be used with your domestic sewing machine or a long arm, and are inexpensive. There will be a demo immediately following the May 15 guild meeting. Bring your lunch! Demo by Nancy Hall. Full Line Stencils has offered to supply brochures with coupons for online purchases, and some door prizes.
The New Members Group met on Thursday, June 8, 2023
At the June meeting, the discussion was on sewing machine needles. How to choose the right needle for your project. The important
characteristics of needles, such as in the Type and Sizes. We discussed the various parts of a sewing machine needle, which help in understanding the correct needle to use. We also talked about twin needles, and I had samples of how twin needle can be used. This was our last meeting with New Members for this year. Starting in July the New Member Chairpersons will be taking over for the MTQG 2023-2024 year.
Diane and I have enjoyed meeting all our new members this past year. We hope you will continue being members in the future. As a Guild member please feel free to come and say hello or to ask any questions.
Sincerely,
Ronnie and Diane

Also known as Treasured Object Almost Done. Do you have some UFOs hiding in your house that are waiting for an extra nudge to get finished? Something you would love to display in the 2024 quilt show. This is the program for you. We will take up to 15 volunteers to briefly describe two UFOs you would like to complete (bring blocks or pictures), and members will vote on which one to bring back a year later. Sign-ups to participate start in November; first 15 will present their projects in February. Questions? Contact your TOAD Queen, Susan Perry
Fun Day 2023
Fun Day will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at the Elk’s Lodge. We are asking all participants to arrive at 8:30 to set up your workspace. You will need your machine, a neutral thread, and whatever other special things you need to work on a project. We will provide pre-cut fabric, enough to finish a top, pressing services, guidance, and lunch! Assembly instructions will be shared with participants starting at 9am. We will need to be efficient, as the lodge has been reserved for use that evening, and we will need to vacate the space no later than 3:30 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Diane Stockhaus directly.
Spring Quilt Camp 2023 There were 17 members attending our spring camp at Chapel Rock last month and there were almost 20 community quilts worked on by almost all who were there. Do check out the photos posted on the guild
