MTQG members participate in a guild quilt show every two years which is held in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
Quilts made by members are displayed, handmade items are for sale in the boutique, small quilts donated by members are auctioned live, and an opportunity quilt is prepared for the lucky winner whose name is drawn.
While all of this takes a great deal of time and many volunteer hours, our guild works hard to make each quilt show a little better and a bit more profitable quilt show image than the last. Our visitors often tell us we have succeeded in doing just that!
Please Note: MTQG’s next show will be “Every Day is a Quilting Day,” June 3 & 4, 2016, at the Prescott Valley Event Center. Co-chairs are Terri Brown and Janet Nieuwenhoff.
“Quilting Binds Friends Together”
“Quilting Binds Friends Together” was the theme for the Mountain Top Quilters Guild Quilt Show on June 6th and 7th, 2014. For the first time the show was held in the arena at Tim’s Toyota Center, 3201 N. Main St, Prescott Valley, AZ.
There were over 250 quilts on display, wonderful vendors, a members’ boutique, and an entertaining quilt turning. A small quilt auction was held Saturday at 1:00 pm. Attendees saw our Friendship Quilts challenge and a lecture on the history of friendship quilts. Our service organization, Community Quilts, had a quilt challenge and there was a display of quilts made by our late member Masako Wolfe. The American Quilt Study Group made their 19th century Stars traveling exhibit available to us for display. Quilt appraisals were available for a fee. Food and beverages could be purchased on site. There was plenty of free parking. The winner of our beautifully pieced and appliquéd Opportunity Quilt, “Rose Sampler”, will be drawn at the close of the show on Saturday. Admission was $5.00.
Winner of the opportunity quilt was Mary Lou Smith of Erie, Michigan!
MTQG held a professional quilt show and we can all be proud of what we accomplished. “Quilting Binds Friends Together” was our most successful show to date! Not only were there a lot of great quilts to view, we also made money for future programs, and to support Community Quilts and other MTQG activities.
Overall attendance is estimated at 1600 (1489 paid attendees)
Number of quilts is estimated at 435.
An awesome job was done by all. Thank you for all your support!
Kathy Barrett and Susan Perry were quilt show co-chairs.
