Community Quilts

Community Quilts is a service project of Mountain Top Quilters. During the last fiscal year (2019-2020), the guild donated 651 quilts to various organizations in our area.

February 28, 2022, we will be at the Elks Lodge starting at 9:00 to resume our monthly workshops. Please come join us and have some fun!!  We will have kits, yardage, orphan blocks and plenty of tops ready to have batting cut for bundles to be quilted. You are welcome to bring your sewing machines to work on projects if you wish. You can also bring finished quilts and pick up kits  at the general meeting.

Kathy Hoffmeister and Diane Stockhaus keep kits available in covered plastic bins on their front porches.

Guidelines for sizes:

  • Baby quilts should be around 36″ wide x 45″long, but no larger that 40″ wide by 50″ Long.
  • Lap quilts should be around 42″ wide x 60″ long but no larger than 50″ x 62″ long.

Please see the monthly newsletter for current information.

CASA Adoption Follow up

The guild recently received a note from Evelyn Hurtado, who is an Administrative Assistant 1 at CASA. She shared a response from one of the recipients of a quilt at a CASA adoption event.

This is from an adopting mother. She said the first thing her son did when they got home from the adoption was to pull off the covers on his bed and put on  his new quilt. The mother wanted the members to know how much they appreciated the gift. Here is a picture she sent.
