In May, the speaker will be long-time member Marcia McMullen bringing us: Scrappy Made Beautiful Marcia will be showing us how to make a quilt using some scraps, or one or several orphan blocks, or not such great fabric to design a Quilt that turns out beautiful! Marcia says, “I have been designing quilts for years. I have never used a store-bought pattern….traditional block patterns, yes. I can draft just about any block with pencil, graph paper and a compass. Do not ask me to draw anything freehand…clipart and printer to enlarge is great. When I start out to make a Community Quilts Scrappy quilt, I hardly ever know what the finished quilt will look like. I design as I go along. If I find some fabric remnant of a color that goes with what I am doing, but do not have enough to do what I first had in mind, I improvise. “Voila!” Scrappy made beautiful!
