Mini Groups Information

Mountain Top Quilters Guild Mini Groups

MTQG Mini Groups are smaller interest-based groups that meet at various times and locations in addition to the large monthly meeting. There are 3 groups that are open, and new and recent members are encouraged to check them out to see if there is a spot for you in one of these. This is a great chance to enjoy friendship, idea sharing, and support in a small group setting. In addition there are 10 groups that are full but are listed to show how much creative activity goes on behind the scenes at MTQG.

Open Groups

Merri Stitchers
Focus is on varying personal projects. Over the years we have had group and individual challenges, helping members with ideas and suggestions on their projects. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 9 in members’ homes. Contacts – Marty Lensink and Ronnie Sandoval

What-Ever Quilters (formerly Crazy Quilters)
Focus is on hand embroidery, machine piecing and so on. Everyone works on their own thing but exchange ideas for new projects. Group meets the last Wednesday of the month from 10 – 2 at Carolyn Hamilton’s house. Bring a sack lunch. Contacts – Fran Leslie and Carolyn Hamilton

Scattered Threads
Focus is on handwork but occasionally sewing machines are brought in. Members bring their own projects to work on, and also enjoy Show and Tell. The main goal of the group is to have fun. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month from 9 – 2 at the Prescott Country Club Community Room. Contact – Carolyn Edwards

Swappers
Focus is on constantly evolving projects of interest to members. Members share ideas that are considered by the group. Meetings often include swapping blocks or fabrics. Ideas are discussed and projects are planned but actual sewing is normally done at home. Projects vary in length of time or completion from one month to several months. Group meets on fourth Tuesday at 1:30 at the Gateway Mall Food Court. December meeting is an annual holiday luncheon. Contact – Jennifer Mees

Handmade’ns
This group shares an interest in mainly hand quilting and/or hand appliqué.
Members help each other with questions that come up about new techniques, color ideas, border ideas, and whatever interests they have going. In other words, a great support group! The group meets the second Wednesday of each month in member homes from 12:30 to 3:30 PM. Contact – Ann Novak

Mysterious Ladies and Lad
This group focuses on mystery quilts. Members take turns picking out and leading a mystery project, giving out new clues or steps in the project every month or so. Past mysteries have resulted in queen to king size quilts. The most amazing part is seeing how the same pattern varies depending on the fabric used. The group meets the first Thursday at the Miller Valley Baptist Church.
