MTQG members participate in a guild quilt show every two years which is held in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Quilts made by members are displayed, handmade items are for sale in the boutique, small quilts donated by members are auctioned live, and an opportunity quilt is prepared for the lucky winner whose name is drawn.

While all of this takes a great deal of time and many volunteer hours, our guild works hard to make each quilt show a little better and a bit more profitable quilt show imagethan the last. Our visitors often tell us we have succeeded in doing just that!

“Quilts of the High Desert” - June 1 & 2, 2018

It’s never too early to make plans to attend MTQG’s biennial quilt show in the Prescott quad-city area. Mark your calendars for our next quilt show:

“Quilts of the High Desert”

June 1st & 2nd, 2018

Fri. 9 am – 5 pm
Sat. 9am – 4 pm

There will be over 300 amazing quilts on display created by our members. Please come vote for your favorite pieced, appliquéd, art and wearable art entries. Also a favorite will be a special area of challenge quilts that will become donations to a variety of non-profit organizations like Hospice, CASA adoptions, and women’s shelters.

On Saturday at 1 pm you’ll have the chance to take a small quilt home if you have the winning bid at the Small Quilt Auction. These quilts will be on display throughout the show.

This time there will be an extra presentation of Quilts with a Story, also known as a Quilt Turning.  Each 30-45 minute exhibition gives the audience a chance to rest their feet while entertained with amusing, touching and memorable accounts about each quilt’s history.  There will be three stagings on Friday, at 10 am, 1 pm and 3 pm with a fourth time scheduled for 10 am Saturday.

Over 20 vendors will be on hand around the arena including local and regional quilt shops and quilt-related businesses featuring quilting and sewing machines, the latest tools and beautiful fabrics.

The guild’s boutique will highlight a variety of items for sale, all stitched and handmade by MTQG members.  Tickets will also be on sale for the guild’s Opportunity Quilt, “Fiesta Mexico,” which includes a label signed by Karen Kay Buckley, designer of the quilt’s pattern. The drawing for the quilt will be held on Saturday at 3 pm.  Proceeds from both of these sales go toward funding our community quilts program and quilting education for our members.

Plan to spend the day as there will be a lite, healthy lunch available on site both days of the show.

It all takes place at The Prescott Valley Event Center; 3201 N. Main St.; Prescott Valley, AZ.

MTQG made this opportunity quilt under the direction of Sherri Hubbs. The pattern is by Karen Kay Buckley.

The following quilters hand appliqued the blocks: Sharon Heilman, Lucy Fields, Joan Carrell, Pam Edwards, Carol Miller, Maxine Everaert,  Cheryl Giovenco, Barbara Phiel, Marcia McMullen, Kathy Barrett, and Veronica Sandoval. It was machine quilted by Angie Christy, and Martie Winkelman made the label.

Lapreil Schwan and Fran Leslie will be in charge of marketing our quilt. Please help by signing up to help at events where it will be shown.
