One of the goals of a quilt guild is to provide its members with learning experiences that they may use to develop quilting skills. These experiences are often best provided by lectures or workshops given by both national and local teachers. MTQG provides programs like these each month at general meetings.

Occasionally our meetings may be more social in nature, such as the spring luncheon or ice cream social, and our annual Christmas luncheon.

Quilts and quilting are always part of the day no matter what the occasion.

Scheduled programs and workshops will be presented here, but please see the easelprogram chairperson at general meetings for more information and to sign up for workshops you may be interested in taking.

Kelly Grant Program - May 15, 2017

Kelly began her sewing career at the age of 6 years old.  Her first sewing machine was a Singer Featherweight and that same machine has been used to create many of her Judy Niemeyer Quilts. See websites Here and Here

Kelly GrantKelly’s first quilt was in the early 1990’s but since she had not yet discovered the rotary cutter it was not much fun to trace and cut a million shapes for one quilt.  In October 2010, a friends showed her the Quiltworx website and specifically the “Flowers for My Wedding Ring” pattern and she was HOOKED! She was encouraged to become a certified instructor and in February 2013, she attended a class with Judy in Tucson and began her first project, “Sunflower Illusion.” Several quilts and classes later, Kelly attended another class with Judy and was invited to attend the CI training in Montana in April 2014. She now has as she describes it, “Her dream job.”

Kelly brings experience and fun to her teaching.  She especially loves to teach “newbies” the technique. She is described by students as patient, organized, calm and fun.  She always has many classes going at once and truly loves what she does.  She enjoys traveling, seeing new places and meeting new friends. Her trunk shows are amazing with over 60 completed Quiltworx projects from placemats to queen size.

Some of the many quilts shown by Kelly at the May meeting may be seen in the slide show below:
